Course Information:

Aim: The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to work in a range of industry sectors independently in a supervisory capacity.

Participant Profile: Course is suitable for those who require a formal qualification and skills to work in your qualified area.

Duration: 6 days in a classroom setting. Learners will be required to complete work outside of class time.

Status: Elective Minor component

Credit Value: 15 credits of 120 credits required to achieve a major award in Management 6M4587

Programme Outcomes:

Some learning outcomes of the component include:

  1. Summarise the duties and responsibilities of a supervisory manager, to include reference to relevant policies and services in the chosen vocational or work environmentEvaluate up-to-date industry standards, guidelines and recommended practices that affect the work environment, to include the purpose and methods of supervision, the staff code of conduct, advantages and disadvantages of in-house and contract staff, and of membership of professional or trade associations, trade unions and/or a works committee
  2. Describe key steps required to recruit staff, to include pre-planning, methods to source and screen staff, use of an application form to shortlist candidates, and the benefits of a chosen approach
  3. Train staff, drawing on up-to-date industry standards in training using appropriate aids and supporting material, and assessing the suitability of individuals during the training session
  4. Carry out staff evaluations to include achievement of objectives, feedback on performance, identification of opportunities for personal development

OTHER INFORMATION:

Entry Requirement: Minimum of Level 5 certificate standard of education. A strong level of spoken and written English required.
Assessment: Portfolio/ Collection of work 40% Skills Demonstration 60% Learners will receive assignment briefs and guidelines on completing these assessments.
Tutor Profile: A range of accommodations and supports are available according to specific learner needs. One to one and email support available from tutors throughout the course.
Resources: Learners receive a comprehensive resource pack that can be used as a reference during and after the course.

Transfer/progression: Successful completion enables the learner to transfer to programmes leading to other certificates where this component is a mandatory or an elective requirement at Level 6.

    Hi just wondering where abouts in kilkenny course is being run? Also will it be held in kilkenny / Carlow again soon? Is there still availability on this course? Does all the money have to be paid up front.
