COURSE INFORMATION:

Aim: The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to carry out care duties under supervision in a public or private healthcare setting.

Participant Profile: Course is suitable for those who require a formal qualification and skills to work in a social care/healthcare setting.

Duration: days in a classroom setting. Learners will be required to complete work outside of class time.

Status: Elective Minor component

Credit Value: Relevant 15 credits of 120 credits required to achieve a major award in Healthcare Support 5M4339

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:

Some of the learning outcomes include:

  1. Describe the different type of care settings and the role of the carer
  2. Explain how the principal carer’s role interacts with the other professionals who work in the care setting
  3. Outline the range of safety measures that should be taken when caring for a client including what to do in the case of a medical emergency
  4. Describe the purpose of the various equipment used to assist in the care setting
  5. Outline the importance of exercise and a healthy and balanced diet across the human life cycle to include the link between exercise and a healthy mind and body
  6. Explain the role of protein, fats and carbohydrates, mineral, vitamins and water in the body
  7. Describe the importance of special diets for specific health related conditions
  8. Explain the different forms communication takes including verbal and non-verbal communication
  9. Describe a number of common impairments that cause communication difficulties

OTHER INFORMATION:

Entry Requirement: Minimum of Level 3 certificate standard of education. A strong level of spoken and written English required.
Assessment: Project 50% Examination Theory 50%. Learners will receive assignment briefs and guidelines on completing these assessments.
Tutor Profile: All tutors are highly qualified and experienced healthcare experts.
Support: A range of accommodations and supports are available according to specific learner needs. One to one and email support available from tutors throughout the course.
Resources: Learners receive a comprehensive resource pack that can be used as a reference during and after the course.

Transfer/progression: Successful completion enables the learner to transfer to programmes leading to other certificates where this component is a mandatory or an elective requirement at Level 5.

    Hi if I did and completed this level 4 coarse would it enable me to go on to complete a level 5 coarse in a totally different field for example in management and area these coarses recognised to the NQF meaning could I go onto complete coarses in college ect, thanks for your time,
