Aim: The purpose of this award is to refresh the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence gained in the 3 day Occupational First Aid/First Aid Response course in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated Guide to these Regulations.

Participant Profile: Course is suitable for those who hold a valid Occupational First Aid or First Aid Response Certificate which is due for renewal. To keep p to date, a refresher needs to be complete every 2 years.

Duration: 2 days in a classroom setting


The learning outcomes are to refresh the learners to enable them to provide aid in the following situations:

1. Well-being of the first aider
2. Patient assessment
3. Incident Procedure
4. Cardiac First Response
5. Common medical Emergencies
6. Care of an unconscious patient
7. Burns and Electrical injury
8. Hypothermia & hyperthermia


Entry Requirement: Occupational First Aid Level 5/First Aid Response completed no more than 2 years and 1 month previous
Tutor Profile: All tutors are highly qualified professionals.
Support: A range of accommodations and supports are available according to specific learner needs. One to one and email support available from tutors throughout the course.
Resources: Learners receive a comprehensive resource pack that can be used as a reference during and after the course.

Refresher: Successful learners must complete a first aid refresher within 2 years and 1 month of completing the QQI Level 5 training to maintain their Occupational First Aid Training/First Aid Response certificate.
