COURSE INFORMATION:

Aim: The purpose of this award is to refresh the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence gained in the 3 day Occupational First Aid Level 5 course in order to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated Guide to these Regulations.

Participant Profile: Course is suitable for those who have completed Occupational First Aid Level 5 within the last 2 years.

Duration: 1 day in a classroom setting

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:

The learning outcomes are to refresh the learners to enable them to provide aid in the following situations:

  1. Administer First Aid in the workplace
  2. Patient Assessment
  3. Respiratory Emergencies
  4. Cardiac First Response
  5. Wounds and Bleeding
  6. Burns and Scalds
  7. Altered Levels Of Consciousness
  8. Muscloskeletal Injuries
  9. Shock

Entry Requirement: Occupational First Aid Level 5 completed no more than 2 years and 3 months previous
Tutor Profile: All tutors are highly qualified professionals.
Support: A range of accommodations and supports are available according to specific learner needs. One to one and email support available from tutors throughout the course.
Resources: Learners receive a comprehensive resource pack that can be used as a reference during and after the course.

Refresher: Successful learners must complete a first aid refresher within 2 years and three months of completing the QQI Level 5 training in order to maintain their Occupational First Aid Training certificate.
