    June Submission to QQI

Barrow Training wish to assure learners that, despite the current pandemic, we have worked to ensure that results will be submitted to QQI for certification in June, as planned.

All assessments to be included in this certification period have already undergone the internal verification process. Internal verification is the process by which Barrow Training itself checks that assessment procedures have been applied consistently and correctly, and to verify the arithmetic and administrative accuracy of assessment results. Barrow Training completes 100% internal verification of its assessments.

External authentication of these assessments took place on Monday, May the 25th. This usually involves a site visit to the Barrow Training centre from a subject matter expert who has no relationship with Barrow Training. The external authentication process ensures that assessments are valid, reliable and consistent with the requirements for the
relevant awards. Due to the very unique times we are living in, this process instead took place remotely and required a lot of planning and preparation to ensure it ran smoothly. Many thanks to the external authenticator for facilitating this.

The next stage of the certification process involves the results approval panel meeting. Again, this will look a little different, and will take place via Microsoft Teams. The results approval panel will meet to review and approve assessment results, review reports of the internal verification and external authentication processes, and agree to the submission of final results to QQI for certification.

Results will be submitted to QQI before June 12th and certificates will have arrived to the Barrow Training centre by July 21st. We endeavour to issue certificates to learners as quickly as possible once received. Please be aware that if the office remains closed and we are still working from home at that stage, we will have less people involved in this process and it may take a little longer than usual. We appreciate your patience as we issue certificates as quickly as we can.

Well done to all of our students and learners receiving certification in July from all at Barrow Training!

Barrow Training Quality Management System ISO9001

In July 2016, Barrow Consultancy & Training implemented a quality management system that conformed to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 standard. ISO 9001:2015 is the most internationally accepted standard available to companies across the globe and it was fantastic that it was implemented within our organisation. We became the first training provider in Ireland to receive this accreditation and the second company in Ireland to receive the new 2015 standard.

ISO 9001:2015 keeps management committed to quality processes and ensures continual improvement. By following the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, our company is able to achieve consistently high quality and customer satisfaction.

A remote surveillance assessment of Barrow Consultancy & Training by Certification Europe took place on April 14th of this year. The objectives of this assessment were to confirm the extent of conformity of the system to the Management Systems ISO 9001:2015, to evaluate the capability of the management systems, to ensure conformity to statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements, to identify potential opportunities for improvement, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the system to achieve organisational objectives. No instances of nonconformity were detected during the assessment. On the basis of the evidence identified during the assessment, the assessor determined that Barrow Consultancy & Training’s management system continues to meet the needs of the organisation and conforms to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.

Well done to the entire team for their commitment in maintaining this high standard on a daily basis, and to our Quality Assurance Manager, Vicky Nolan, for leading the assessment!

Barrow Staff Fundraising for St Lazerians House

The staff members at Barrow Training will each walk/run 2km per day in May in aid of St Lazerian's House.

St. Lazerian’s House is a charitable trust that provides accommodation and support for older adults in Bagenalstown and the surrounding areas, who do not require institutional care but who are unable to live independently at home.

The Covid-19 pandemic has put additional pressure on Marian and the staff at St Lazerian's House.
We hope to raise €500 to help to relieve some of the financial pressure and would appreciate your support.

    Every little helps!

    UPDATE

Thanks to your wonderful generosity, in the first week of fundraising, we have already reached our target of €500 and have increased it to €750!

Thank you again to all who have supported us so far.

Notice to Learners in relation to Amendments to Assessments

We hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well.

Barrow Training have made amendments to the assessment methods of our online modules during the Covid-19 pandemic so that you can complete all assessments from home. Your tutor will offer additional guidance and support to ensure you understand the new layout.

Whilst we appreciate that the amendments to assessment methods might be unsettling for you, we ask that you do your utmost
to ensure the integrity of your own work. That means that any work or assessment submitted by you must be original work completed by you, without input from someone else (unless this has been clearly referenced or stated by you).

You should ignore any approaches from illegal ‘essay mills’ or similar services which offer to assist with writing assignments. Such activity is considered as academic malpractice (or cheating). Academic malpractice is taken very seriously by Barrow Training and all cases are investigated thoroughly. Where cheating has been confirmed, there are consequences for the learner concerned. Information on academic malpractice is included in your Learner Handbook. If you are having any difficulties in managing your workload or in preparing for assessment at this challenging time, please contact your tutor. We are all here to support you so that you achieve your potential.

It is in all of our interests to ensure the integrity of assessment – to ensure that those who have gained a qualification have done so honestly and that they have the knowledge and skills associated with that qualification. If you are concerned about any academic malpractice you have encountered, you can contact Vicky Nolan, Quality Assurance Manager on quality@barrowtraining.ie. Please be assured that this contact will be dealt with in the strictest confidence. Further information on new laws in Ireland prohibiting cheating and cheating services is available here.

We would like to thank you for your assistance in ensuring that academic integrity is observed and upheld at all times within Barrow Training so that everyone has confidence in the assessment results and the qualifications obtained by our learners.

    Take care of yourself.

    The Barrow Training Team
